This series of portraits in gum bichromate is ongoing and probably will be for life. What I am working on with these images is my attempt at capturing the soul and the mystique that exists for every person who has ever taught me something truly substantial. I try to capture the essence of the person with the initial photograph and then build the mystique around the person in the gum bichromate print. For me, somebody who knows more about something than I do, has an unknown and mysterious element about them. Even though I might know the story behind the knowledge they gained and passed on to me, I know that I will never know the whole story. I will never fully understand their life experience and in that lack of knowing lies the mystery.
